In Camp-Perrin, Haiti, farmers have struggled to recover from devastating earthquakes, droughts, and hurricanes. Security risks along the routes from Port-au-Prince to the region, including frequent roadblocks, gang activity, and deteriorating infrastructure, make transporting goods both dangerous and unreliable. These conditions often leave rural areas without the essential resources needed to sustain livelihoods. (Source: PADF)
PADF is partnering with AIDONIC to ensure these communities are getting the tools they need to rebuild their farms and their futures despite the obstacles. AIDONIC is an innovative platform that leverages technology to streamline the delivery of humanitarian aid. By providing digital cash vouchers, AIDONIC enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of aid distribution, enabling organizations to reach vulnerable people quickly and securely. Recognizing that internet connectivity can be unreliable in rural areas, AIDONIC also offers an SMS code option alongside QR codes for voucher distribution. In Southern Haiti, this SMS option plays a critical role by addressing connectivity challenges, ensuring more people can access essential goods and services from local vendors, fostering local economies, and delivering assistance to those who need it most. After receiving digital vouchers, farmers in Camp-Perrin can redeem them for essential tools at local hardware stores like Coin Idéal. With access to items such as wheelbarrows, shovels, and machetes, farmers are better equipped to prepare their land for the upcoming growing season. This initiative empowers farmers to rebuild their livelihoods and strengthens food security for their communities, fostering long-term stability and resilience after years of hardship.
Together, PADF and AIDONIC are transforming how support reaches Southern Haiti, delivering it faster, safer, and more effectively than ever before. Within just one month, this innovative program benefitted nearly 1,000 households.
For over 60 years, PADF has worked across Latin America and the Caribbean to create opportunities, improve lives, and build more resilient communities. At PADF, we believe in local solutions and leveraging partnerships with governments, civil society, and the private sector to make the region healthier, safer, and more inclusive – our partnership with AIDONIC in Haiti is just one example of this.
By harnessing technology, this collaboration not only addresses immediate challenges but also lays the foundation for long-term resilience and sustainable development in Haiti.
